Medicentre The Medicar Air Ambulance Dontations News Update Links Contact |
The Medicar is Air Ambulance on the ground and will support our Lady of Guadalupe MediCentre by providing PRE-Hospital, IN-Hospital, POST-Hospital, Home and Inter-Hospital PatientCare Transport Services and Facilities. An all-important factor of the MediCar is that it can be called out in a Non Emergency context. The N.E. in N.E.E.M.S. A typical Non Emergency call out would be where perhaps the person needing attention is probably not in a life threatening situation and might be able to be treated at home, the workplace of wherever the call came from. However, on arrival to the scene, if, in the opinion of the Emergency Medical Technicians that arrive, the person needing attention needs to be brought to hospital then the MediCar will be used in an Emergency Medical context - the E.M. in N.E.E.M.S. But as 71% of all ambulance callouts are not life threatening wouldn't it be nice not to have to bring the person to the A&E at all and thus alleviating the workload on A&E services? How all this is paid for (Hang on! Wasn't FREE mentioned?) is explained in News Update. March End sees the arrival of The Saint Luke, The N.E.E.M.S Mobile Trauma Unit. It is to be stationed at Ballymahon at Sancta Anna The N.E.E.M.S Mobile Trauma Unit Control Base. Interestingly enough, the book Victims of an Attitude covers the full story of the prototype N.E.E.M.S Mobile Trauma Unit and what happened to it. Due to legal advice and as part of the State's continuing request for us to keep quiet about it (you think what's happening in the healthboards is good? Read VICTIMS OF AN ATTITUDE for an eye-opener - publishing date is being discussed at present) we have decided to concentrate on the Project only. For Now... In HealthCare |
